This page explains what personal information Abundant Moon at abundantmoon.app collects, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. It should be read with our Terms of use.
We collect this directly from you. You can choose not to give some of it, such as your birth time or place, but parts of the service will then be less precise or unavailable.
To work out the sky you were born under and write your chart; to write your morning readings, your other readings and Auriana’s replies; to give Auriana memory across your conversations; to send the mornings, evenings and letters you have chosen; to run your membership and offers, including looking at how much you use the service to decide whether we can offer you a lower price to stay if you start to cancel; to keep the service safe and working; and to understand which features and prompts are useful. We do not sell your information, and we do not use your conversations to train AI models.
Messages are checked automatically for signs of distress so Auriana can respond with care. A message that trips this check may be marked, and we may review marked messages to make sure the service responded properly. These marks are never shown to anyone else.
Your birth-place search is answered on our own servers, from GeoNames’ list of the world’s towns and cities (geonames.org, CC BY 4.0). What you type there isn’t sent to anyone else.
If you ask for moonrise and moonset times, your device shares an approximate location (to about a kilometre). It is kept on your device, sent only to calculate the times, and never saved to your account.
We share personal information with these providers only so they can provide their service to us, or where the law requires it.
Your account is stored in Australia. Some of the providers above process information in other countries, mainly the United States. By using the service you consent to that. We choose providers that commit to protecting the information they handle.
We use a small number of cookies that the service needs: one that keeps you signed in, one that remembers where you were heading when you asked for a sign-in link, and one that carries a purchase made before you had an account to your first sign-in. We also keep a few preferences on your device, such as whether you have seen the welcome tour. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account from Settings, your chart, conversations, tracker, dreams and preferences are deleted. Stripe keeps payment records for as long as the law requires, and our providers’ routine backups are overwritten on their own schedules.
Information is encrypted in transit, access is limited to what each part of the service needs, and each person can read only their own records. No service can promise perfect security; if a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.
We send the messages needed to run your account, such as sign-in links, your morning reading and billing notices. Letters and offers from Auriana are sent only if you have opted in. You can change all of these in Settings at any time.
You can see and change your details, notifications and letters in Settings, and delete your account and everything in it from Settings. You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to export your chart and conversations, by writing to auriana@abundantmoon.app. We will respond within 30 days.
If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on our contract with you, your consent, and our legitimate interest in running and improving the service as the legal bases for using your information, and you also have the right to object, to restrict use, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
The service is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger; if you believe we have, write to us and we will delete it.
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, write to auriana@abundantmoon.app and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this page. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we will email you about material changes.
